The Mysterious Garden Under the Moonlight and the Serene Spirits

On a tranquil night, the soft glow of the full moon hung in the sky, gently illuminating the scene beside the temple. The temple was embraced by ancient trees, hidden within a lush and mysterious greenery, as if time had come to a standstill. Nari, a girl with a beauty reminiscent of moonlight, appeared exceptionally gentle in the glow. She sat on the stone steps of the temple, quietly gazing at the night sky, her thoughts drifting far away.

Nari's heart rippled like a lake brushed by the wind. She had once loved a young man named Alco, who, like the north wind, made the flowers in her heart bloom, but also called forth her sadness. Nari admired Alco's bravery and resilience; he was a respected fisherman in the village, with a gleaming fish knife at his waist, showcasing his decisiveness and strength. As the daughter of the temple priest, Nari bore many responsibilities and expectations, and this love felt like a greedy tide—longed for yet unattainable.

Just then, a gentle breeze blew through, accompanied by the rustling of leaves, as white petals fell like stars scattered from the sky. Nari's heart stirred with the movement. Her thoughts continuously cycled back to the moment she first met Alco. It was an afternoon bathed in golden sunlight when Nari was picking petals by the river near the temple, lost in her worries about the future and how to meet her father’s expectations without breaking her heart. At that moment, the familiar sound of the tide caught her attention, and she looked up to see Alco, the sun shining on his strong arms as he pulled up a big fish.

“How about this one?” Alco asked proudly, then smiled at her, revealing a mouthful of white teeth. Nari's heart skipped a beat; that smile seemed to light up her entire world.

"Very beautiful," Nari's voice trembled slightly, "I've never seen such a big fish."

"This is my luck." Alco gently scraped the fish scales with his knife, his voice as refreshing as flowing water. "If you want, I can teach you how to fish."

From that day on, Nari often followed Alco by the riverside. He taught her how to listen to the sounds of the water and how to read the patterns of the stars. As time passed, their friendship gradually deepened, and their hearts unknowingly drew closer. Nari felt a surge of emotions as she listened to Alco's dreams and aspirations; she wished to provide him with a beautiful future, yet felt powerless.

However, the path of love was not smooth. Nari's family had strict expectations of her; her father often reminded her that as the daughter of the temple priestess, her responsibilities outweighed everything. Meanwhile, Alco had his own ideals; he aspired to become a great fisherman who could lead the village to a better life. His heart was filled with longing for the future, yet the road ahead was fraught with obstacles.

During a late-night conversation, Alco held Nari's hand, looking deep into her eyes with sincerity. "Nari, would you be willing to follow me in pursuing our dreams? No matter what difficulties we encounter, I will always protect you."

Nari gazed into his steadfast eyes, her inner conflict and confusion laid bare, but she knew this was not a path she could decide alone. Taking a deep breath and biting her lip, she forced herself to calm down. "Alco, I... my responsibilities are heavy; I cannot leave here."

Alco's expression dimmed slightly; he lowered his head in silence, as if overwhelmed by disappointment. “Do you know I will wait for you? Even if it takes a long time, I will be right here waiting."

Nari's heart ached painfully, and tears silently fell. That night, she nestled in the aromatic sandalwood oil of the temple, her heart filled with the tug-of-war between love and duty, like shadows dancing in the moonlight, unable to escape yet unable to approach.

As the seasons changed, the water grasses in the village flourished, but a shadow gradually enveloped Nari's heart. She continued to come to the temple for worship every day as usual, yet was always restless. One day, as she silently prayed at the altar, she quietly made a wish: “I hope my dreams with Alco can merge, no longer separated by distance.”

Soon, an unexpected event occurred in the village. One night, heavy rains caused the river beside the village to swell, resulting in serious flooding that submerged and damaged many villagers' homes. Nari's heart tightened, helpless. She was eager to find Alco to ensure his safety, but when she reached the riverside, the sight before her shocked and pained her. The river roared, trees had fallen along the banks, rooftops were swept away, and many murky objects floated on the water.

At that moment, she heard a deep voice calling, seemingly coming from within the water. Nari couldn't think; she immediately rushed toward the source of the sound, her mind focused solely on Alco’s safety.

On a shallow bank by the river, Nari saw Alco struggling in the water, his gaze filled with unease. He fought to drag a figure floating on the surface to the shore, but the current battered his body, leaving him increasingly weak.

“Alco!” Nari's heart felt as if it were being torn apart, and without a second thought, she plunged into the raging waves like a brave little bird, heading toward him.

“Nari! Get away!” Alco tried to reach out forcefully, but his strength was fading as the current pushed him further back.

“I won't be swept away! We're together!” Nari responded with determination, grasping Alco's hand. In that moment, a flame ignited within her; the power of love seemed to embolden her against all dangers.

Together, they swam with all their might toward the shore, each reaching out marking a pursuit of dreams. Their gradually increasing morale made their sweat and tears intertwine, and that shallow bank reflecting the cold moon became an indelible mark in their hearts.

It felt like an eternity, but in their determined efforts, they finally reached the shore. As Alco climbed onto the land, panicked, he pulled Nari into his arms, both gasping for breath, their hearts intertwining in that moment. “I thought I would lose you…” Alco's voice was low and trembling.

“I won’t leave you alone; I will always be by your side.” Nari looked at him, her eyes shimmering with tears yet emanating a firm confidence.

After a while, the village, having been struck by the flood, gradually returned to a peaceful life through combined efforts. However, their hearts became more connected through the experience. Nari and Alco began helping the villagers rebuild their homes together, pouring their love and hope into their efforts, facing challenges side by side.

As time passed, Nari slowly came to understand that love was no longer just about adhering to some duty or expectation; it was more about mutual support and shared growth. Every full moon night, she would sit on the stone steps of the temple, thoughtfully pondering the path ahead with peace of mind.

“Alco, do you believe in fate?” Nari expressed her thoughts one tranquil night.

“I believe we can change fate; our choices can shape our future,” Alco replied with a smile, his eyes reflecting a glimmer of determination. “As long as we are connected by heart and hand, nothing is impossible.”

That night, the moonlight shone brilliantly upon them, seemingly foretelling the unlimited possibilities of the future. Nari suddenly felt a rush of courage; faced with the indelible thoughts of love, she decided to join hands with Alco and confront every possible tomorrow. From then on, her heart was no longer lonely, and with each passing day, she believed in the beautiful play of fate.

Thus, beside this tranquil temple, illuminated by moonlight, Nari finally found the true love that belonged to her, and the journey of dancing with fate was just beginning.
